Thank you - you made sure cancer mattered in 2019

1 minute read time.

It’s time for us to give our heartfelt thanks to you for supporting people living with cancer and their loved ones with our campaigns in 2019.

The political climate made it challenging to make change happen this year. But without campaigners like you, we could not have made vital progress towards a system that helps people living with cancer live life as fully as possible.

Here’s what we’ve been able to achieve this year, thanks to you.

The financial cost of cancer is real, and you made the Government listenFor many people affected by cancer, money is their biggest worry. You helped us send this message loud and clear to 92% of MPs. As a result of our engagement, the Government acknowledged and made progress on some of the key issues facing people with cancer who receive Universal Credit. Please look out for our next action on the financial cost of cancer in 2020.

Cancer matters – and your candidates agreed

Because of you, thousands of emails with the message that cancer matters reached Parliamentary candidates all across the UK this General Election. We will now be able to follow up with all elected MPs who pledged to fight for people living with cancer. You will hear more about our engagement with MPs in 2020.

Together, we will save our support

Thousands of you signed our Open Letter asking decision makers in all four nations to address the workforce crisis. As we move in to 2020 with a new UK Parliament, the NHS and social care crisis remains urgent. 3 million people are now living with cancer in the UK. That’s higher than ever before, so your support has never been more vital. The workforce crisis will be our key campaign issue in 2020.

It’s been a privilege to campaign with you this year. We look forward to campaigning right by you in 2020!

Wishing you a very happy holiday season,

Izzy, Jen, Yvonne
