Mum is doing really well with her chemo, had a few hiccups concerning the effects of her treatment. She now only has 8 weeks left but, mum has had to miss one week due to ill health brought on by her chemo. We've all been behind her, supporting her by listening to her and reassuring her that she is doing so well and it'll all soon be over. Mum told me that at the moment it is difficult for her to walk. Mum has got over that problem by getting a motability scooter and I try to reassure her that when the chemo has finished and starts to wear off, her strength will come back and she'll feel a whole lot better. Well done mum, you're a superstar :) xxx

Now she is going for chemotherapy to make sure that the cancer is completely eradicated. Now I'm not so sure which is the hard part! Like a roller coaster you get over the first hill and as you head down the other side another one looms. I'm told that while she is having chemo, not just the obvious occurs i.e. hairloss, tiredness etc. But, the more deeper emotional changes occur like memory loss, mood swings perhaps, it makes me nervous almost scared to call her incase she can't remember who I am or is a total stranger.

This is my first time on here so excuse if it isn't very interesting. My mum has recently just had a bowel cancer op to remove the cancer. All is looking good except all the worries and emotions that come with it. Never had cancer so close in the family so when it hits, it hits hard. So thought writing things down might help, and where better than a site where the readers understand and can relate, and hopefully share experiences so I can learn what to expect and how to deal with what's coming up in the future. I think like most people, I don't really know what to expect so any advice, comments etc would be greatly welcomed.
