    It is now exactly three weeks since the phone call that changed my life. I have run the whole gamut of emotions since then. After living and working abroad for over 35 years I had decided to take early retirement and return to my Scottish roots. At the moment I should be packing and preparing to move all my belongings back to the UK next month. Instead, I will stay here for some considerable time longer to have treatment…

  • Chemo 2 - 200917

    Turned up at the hospital at 9am for my second chemo session.  Unfortunately, my leucocytes were too low so they couldn't do it. I got an injection to help increase them and I have to inject myself Thursday and Friday.  Have to go back on Monday so, hopefully, it will be alright then. Feeling quite disappointed. Who'd have thought they'd ever be disappointed about not having a chemo session?  How strange life…

  • 20190810 - now incurable

    Stomach cancer metastasis in peritoneum. I have something called peritoneal carcinomatosis. I was told on 4th July that my cancer is incurable. The only treatment they can offer me is more of the FLOT chemotherapy. I will continue to have chemo cocktails every two weeks until the tumour stops responding or my body can no longer tolerate it.     Just completed the second of my post-op chemo sessions. This was the first time that it was done as an outpatient. Mind you, I still spent all day at the hospital on Tuesday. I was there at 8.15 and was finally sent home at 16.15 with a portable pump to dispense the last drug which takes 24 hours.     Had my first chemo session. It started on Wednesday 6th Sept. Two days in hospital and it went quite well. No nausea, although they did give me anti-nausea drugs. Came home Friday afternoon, felt quite tired and slept like a log Friday night. A friend popped in to see me Saturday lunchtime and brought some beautiful flowers.
