270918 - PET scan results

1 minute read time.

I had a PET scan on Tuesday and had an anxious couple of days waiting for the results. Everything seems to be fine. Hallelujah! I also asked about my blood results as I hadn't received a copy. I had been worried that maybe they were not good and that's why they hadn't sent them to me. Tumour markers showed 2 (last time 1.8 and time before 1.6). Naturally, I see a worrying trend of them on the increase. The "normal" values should be 5 or less so I know that I'm worrying unnecessarily but I think that will be the way from now on.  My oncologist is very happy and he said whenever he meets my surgeon they always talk about me.  I guess I'm one of their success stories as things seemed bleak at the start of my treatment.  He told me that it is important to have the pre-op chemo in the hope of shrinking the tumour but, more importantly, have a good surgeon to remove it. I believe that I am blessed and extremely fortunate to have had these two doctors in my corner. I am more or less leading a normal life apart from the occasional smells that emanate from my nether regions! ;-( Small price to pay for being alive. On the plus side I am happy with my new slim figure. I even wore a bikini on my recent holiday. Every cloud has a silver lining.
