Have you had difficulty getting travel insurance after a cancer diagnosis? This blog gives helpful updates on the travel insurance group discussions.
Welcome to the September 2018 travel insurance update. Last month, I’m pleased to say that many of you were able to experience some September sunshine away from home. We hope the discussions over on the travel insurance group gave you some valuable recommendations.
Thank you to those of you who contributed to the group in September. Here are some of the highlights:
‘I`ve found an insurance company that covers worldwide travel for WI members.’
‘They are very thorough when it comes to questioning you about your illness(s) but I was very happy with the outcome in terms of both cost and cover. Would recommend.’
‘I filled in the all the questions and immediately received a quote giving various levels of cover from which to select. Well, of course, I accepted and made the purchase.’

I had a partial nephrectomy last year for renal cell cancer, unfortunately then followed by a collapsed lung, infected haematoma and 3 DVT's! My only son lives in the US and getting travel insurance has been a nightmare! I was quoted anything between £1000 and £3500 for a 20 day trip. Eventually I managed to get it down to £900 with Staysure, but if anyone has had a better 'offer' for travelling to the US, I should be more than grateful. It's too late for this trip but I'm hoping to go again next year. - if I can afford the insurance!
I see you've joined the travel insurance group so if you copy and paste this comment from here into a new post there you should hopefully get some responses.
If you're not sure how to get back there just click on the link I've created. You can then start a new post by selecting 'Start A Discussion' which you'll see near the top of the page. You should also see a thread entitled 'Recommended Travel Insurance' which we've just started up. Although there aren't many recommendations in there yet this is where we're hoping people will post their recommendations for people in future.
While you're waiting for people to respond to you, you can also look through the older posts to see which companies have been recommended or use the search facility to look for insurance specifically to America.
I hope you have a lovely visit to your son
Hi All, I have found some travel insurance detail from the "WHICH" web site which includes insurance company names and prices. Hope this will be helpful to the group.
