"...your reply filled me with strength and a feeling of support. I'll be back!"

3 minute read time.

'Your Community' written over a picture of lots of hands reaching up, pointing.

In today’s Community News piece, I thought I’d share with you all just a handful of the feedback recently received for our Community cancer forum – feedback myself, Ellen and Jess see day in, day out on the site. The Community’s such an invaluable source of support for people affected by cancer, and the below speaks volumes for you, our Community members, who are the ones sharing your experiences; talking to those who need a listening ear; and offering support and comfort to those who need it most.

Enjoy the read, and if you’ve a positive story from the Community you’d like to share, go ahead and do so using the comments section below.

“…I'm always so heartened to see the amazing support this little community gives.”

“There's lots of support on this group. It is amazing. Sending love.”

'I'll be back! Thank you!'

“…thank you for your lovely message of encouragement. It's only a brief reply as I'm sitting waiting to head off for a radiotherapy appointment to discuss more treatment for my mother and if she wants to go ahead with chemo too! So much to think about and so desperate to find hope! She's pottering about and keeping busy like she does (I love those moments as life just feels normal). Just reading your reply filled me with strength and a feeling of support. I'll be back! Thank you!"

'There are some truly wonderful people...'

"This forum is probably the best forum I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with. There are some truly wonderful people left in this often horrible world."

"I find talking to other people who are going through the same sort of things as myself really helps, I find it better to chat to people online...I'm not that great at getting my words out when talking to someone."

'I'm also very pleased to be sharing that journey with others in a difficult, sometimes distressing yet supportive environment.'

“I just wanted to say how great this Online Community is and how reassuring and informative I have found it. Well done to everyone who takes the time to post and join in with the conversations. I thought I was going to be a reader only, but I thought I would give this feedback to endorse how useful I've found it so far…I'm also very pleased to be sharing that journey with others in a difficult, sometimes distressing yet supportive environment.”

“I’ve been a member of this group for almost 5 years now…Throughout all this time, this site and the people here, have helped, encouraged, advised…everything.”

To finish, I want to share perhaps my favourite piece of feedback seen since joining the Community team. The below came from a member whose sister, used the Community to access support, but sadly passed away last October.

'Without you all knowing you got me through some lonely, dark times'

"I was going through some of her stuff and came across her laptop...There was a note inside her laptop...there was a list of names and all it said underneath was 'without you all knowing you got me through some lonely, dark times by reading your posts and replies to each other'...she’d scribbled your names down and thanked you at the end...she’d felt so uplifted by you all with your words of wisdom, unfortunate experiences and support...thank you all from the bottom of my heart..."
