We’re looking for people with or recovering from cancer who are currently receiving Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) in the Work Related Activity Group (WRAG) to support our campaign against the Government’s Welfare Reform and Work Bill.
ESA is essential financial support designed to help people who have been medically assessed as being too sick to work, but who can do activity to help them get into or return to paid work once their condition improves. This could include people who are still suffering the consequences of their cancer or treatment. The Government are proposing to cut this vital benefit for new claimants in the ESA WRAG group from 2017 by £30 a week, from £102.15 to £73.10, potentially affecting thousands of people with cancer.
We’re looking for people who currently receive this weekly payment of £102.15 and who are happy to share their story either in the media, in our campaign mail outs or by attending events. It’s a chance to speak up and be a voice for the thousands of people who could be affected with the aim of improving the lives of people with cancer.
