Ignoring Thyroid Papillary Cancer-An option?

If TPC is very slow growing, could one conceivably ignore it for several years? If I'm 52 now, could I get to my 70's without having all the invasive treatment and just shuffle off gently. I was wondering what symptoms, apart from the lumps, sent people to the doctors prior to diagnosis. Is having...

Hi SarahHelen, Barbara just provided you with all the info that your Hospital should have fed you during your treatment. It is not acceptable that all the gaps you mentioned in info should be provided by fellow TC survivor. The Christie might be massive('we were the first') Cancer Centre, but...

Thanks for this Barbaral. I'll now go to sleep thinking I'm definitely a small, light woman! Actually I hope I will be by the time I've got all this sorted out. I'm reassured and I've had to set an alarm on my phone to make me remember to take the second dose - mornings are fine,...

Hi Barbara, sounds like you have gathered a bit more info. I think the ingredient to look out for in salt is potassium iodide/iodate or sodium iodide/iodate, but having looked at a few salt container ingredients I have found that it usually isn't mentioned and is not routinely added in the UK. Sea...

little miss_1 Hey Jenny I have always felt better on the T3 than the T4. When I mentioned this to my doctor, he said he could combine the two for me...so may try that in the future. I was abit of a mess when going back onto my T4, although I didn't realise it the time! I have waited roughly...

Hi all, I've actually been feeling quite well after swapping from T4 before surgery to T3 (40mcg per day) after surgery. My heart rate tends to shoot up sometimes, but overall, I've had more energy than I've had for years. (I was on T4 for about a year before surgery). I've got an...

Hi everyone, Nice to read about all your experiences. I haven't got to the stage of abnormally high doses of Levothyroxine yet as I am still on T3 waiting for RAI treatment, but it is something I have concerns over since our TSH levels will never be within the 'normal' range again and...

Has anyone out there, who has had a thyroidectomy and is now on TSH suppressing doses of Levothyroxine, experienced any symptoms of hyperthyroidism? And if so, how are you coping? I met someone the other day who's mother had had Thyroid cancer and was now having the eye problems associated with Grave's...

Dear Mrs.P, RAI is very effective and side effects do vary. Drinks loads and have some boiled sweets. You may feel a bit crap from time to time in the weeks following, but it has a high success rate. I don't know haow it affects fertility in women, but my oncologist told me if I had any further plans...

Hello Nichole. I had thyrodectomy mid March for a papillary and also a follicular cancer, and 8 weeks later went through the RAI routine. I did get some good advice at the time here about plenty of liquid and boiled sweets etc. It did appear to go well for me, and I had an exceptionall vigilant and friendly...
