Hi Smurf Big hugs to you, its really not an easy time. As everyone has said it really is the madness of it all and the speed at which things happen, you don't quite have the time or frame of mind to take it all in. I had tests and results in a week, no time to take it in at all. Then when things...

Hi Lee I had my surgery 14 June. Nearly 5 months. I had a TT and right radical neck dissection. Getting there slowly, I am not good at being sick, I have never been ill, I find it hard to deal with at times. I can see things moving on now, which is great. If you make sure you write a list of questions...

Hi Lee Usually it will just be a pre-op assessment, a load of questions about your health and bloods are done usually. You need to be fit and well to have the op, it is major surgery. Some people have had MRI's or CT scans, but that is usually to find out what it was etc. I had a CT scan 1st then...

Hi Lee Oh yes surgery is something I never thought I would have to deal with in life, it became the focus not the cancer. Before all this I was never in hospital, never needed stitches, never broken anything or even have fillings in my teeth, I only ever had blood taken once before and that was about...

Hi Barbara Thanks, all you have said is so right. I would love a fast forward button, I am usually a very very busy bee and always on the go, now I am at a full stop. I think I am finding it so hard as I am having all these other problems that I never expected. I am off tomorrow to the hospital...

Hi Vintage There are different types of neck dissection, it basically means cutting out the lymph nodes (glands as we would know them as) in the side of the neck or around the thyroid at the front if they know its spread to the lymph nodes. Mine was a right neck dissection so I had to have a cut from...

Hi Vintage Don't feel lost, just ask any questions you need to here. I was taking to a friend today who was saying she remembered us chatting over lunch before I had been to see about my lump and was like don't be silly it will be nothing. It was such a shock to find out it was thyroid...

Hi No worries at all, its good to ask questions. I only had one side done, as ChelleT says, you don't remember much after you come round, the surgeon had said he was going to go further up the left side when I was a asleep to make sure, but he must of thought it wasn't needed. The path report...

Hi all Surgery is all over now thank goodness and I got home on Monday. The going to sleep part was calm in the end thanks to a lovely anesthetist who give me a pre-med and numbed the back of my hands, as he said I had fine veins (veins you can never see, fine sounded like a good description). Looked...
