Hi Lee I had my surgery 14 June. Nearly 5 months. I had a TT and right radical neck dissection. Getting there slowly, I am not good at being sick, I have never been ill, I find it hard to deal with at times. I can see things moving on now, which is great. If you make sure you write a list of questions...

Hi Lee Thyroid cancer diagnosis has a alot to do with age with regard to size, type and spread. When below 40 it doesn't matter what size your primary tumor is or if it has spread to the lymph nodes, it would be classed as stage one and is usually papillary like you have initially been told. ...

Hi Lee Oh yes surgery is something I never thought I would have to deal with in life, it became the focus not the cancer. Before all this I was never in hospital, never needed stitches, never broken anything or even have fillings in my teeth, I only ever had blood taken once before and that was about...

Hi Sharon Have you only had one WBS. They can't tell if the cancer has gone from doing just one of those. I am kinda new to all this and others will be able to help more. I had RAI 2 weeks ago and got WBS etc before I left. I will then get another WBS in 3 months time to check if the cancer is...

Hi Barbara Thanks, all you have said is so right. I would love a fast forward button, I am usually a very very busy bee and always on the go, now I am at a full stop. I think I am finding it so hard as I am having all these other problems that I never expected. I am off tomorrow to the hospital...

Hi Vintage There are different types of neck dissection, it basically means cutting out the lymph nodes (glands as we would know them as) in the side of the neck or around the thyroid at the front if they know its spread to the lymph nodes. Mine was a right neck dissection so I had to have a cut from...

Hi Vintage Don't feel lost, just ask any questions you need to here. I was taking to a friend today who was saying she remembered us chatting over lunch before I had been to see about my lump and was like don't be silly it will be nothing. It was such a shock to find out it was thyroid...

Hi Kimleannne I am glad he is all over the surgery. Being out after 8 days is great. I was only just getting out about weeks after. I can't fully comment on the body scan thing, as I am still waiting for an appointment with an oncologist. From what I have read, you have a body scan before treatment...

Hi Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with your voice. I am just going into week 7 post op from a TT and right radical neck dissection and I haven't had any voice issues as such, maybe just that I can't quite sing just yet, talking is ok. I think you are probably are being anxious...

Hi Leanne Thanks for message, I have no feeling in my ear either, he must have cut that, although they never said that at the time. I meant to ask such questions on Monday when I went for check up but was so ill when I got there, everything just went out the window. Surgeon came to see me at 7am morning...

hi all I am 4 and half weeks post op now from having a TT and right radical neck dissection. I know its very early days (I hate that), but I was wondering how long it takes to get movement back to normal or semi normal. At the moment I can't put my right arm out to the side and move it up,...

Hi No worries at all, its good to ask questions. I only had one side done, as ChelleT says, you don't remember much after you come round, the surgeon had said he was going to go further up the left side when I was a asleep to make sure, but he must of thought it wasn't needed. The path report...
