My mum (73) has not been eating for a long time, getting weaker, losing weight and refusing to see a doctor. On February 4 she had a fall and broke an arm, so had to go to hospital where after four weeks of increasing weakness they diagnosed (through scan, too weak for colonoscopy) a large tumour on...

Hello, Follwoing from my recent posts, we have now had a meeting with my granddads oncologist who in my opinion was useless. She reeled off all the WORST CASE SCENARIOS with no positives. As we are all aware there is ALWAYS hope when it comes to cancer. Thats what keeps us alive and positive. She...

HI all - as some of you may have read, I had a huge surgery on 30th June and they said at the time they thought they had got all of the tumour out (plus the affected 10% of my liver). A few weeks ago we were copied in on a letter between surgeons and discovered that tests taken at the time of my surgery...

Hi John. I am sorry to h ear about your prostrate cancer and the bowel symptoms. I certainly understand how you must be feeling and how frustrating it is. I was diagnosed with Rectal cancer two years ago. In my experience the doctors who dealt with me were brilliant. I had similar symptoms in the...

Hi MEJ, I had Rectal Cancer two years ago, and took capecitabine tablets, but didnt suffer any side effects with this drug apart from a slight sore throat which I remedied with Manuka Honey. I know that I have had bad stomach pains in the past which were diagnosed as IBS, and that was something I thought...

Thank you Pam - that's really kind of you - and I mean that sincerely. I want all of you 'youngsters' out there to know that it's not as rare as we think - just misdiagnosed by GPs - since I started this post I have met/been in touch with 2 44 year old ladies, 1 51 year old lady and...

Hi Tim - well you are the voice of experience compared to me! I have had 5 weeks daily radiotherapy/oral chemo and am now 2 cycles into oxylyplatine/5FU + cetuximab. My oncologist wants another 2 cycles before she does MRI scan and CT scan and refers me back to the colorectal surgeon in June.

Hallo Patrick just read your very informative post, and I do agree with everything you say , but just one thing strikes me - if a tumour blocks the bowel the patient could be in real trouble (please see my post about local recurrence in the bowel cancer group forum) so one would be stuck between a rock...
