My sixth and last FEC chemo was on the 22nd April. The side effects hit me harder again this time, but here I am nearly two weeks on and I'm slowly recovering and I am feeling better each day. The sun is shining and that always makes you feel better! The hypnotherapy sessions to tackle my needle...

I can't believe how fast time is passing! Chemo number 4 came and went on Friday 8th Feb. My veins are not playing ball as they are painful after previous chemo's, so after two attempts a doctor was called and the canular had to go in on the inside of my arm. I'm still trying to find a local...

FEC chemo number 3 under my belt, yay! It was touch and go as to whether I would get to the hospital last Friday after a very heavy snowfall in Cardiff. Having had my chemo delayed the week before due to my low blood count, I was determined to get my chemo! I even googled how long it would take me to...

Where has the last few weeks gone!! Well I'm glad to report that Cinders did go to the New Years Eve ball in the end! I managed to get a last minute place on the day, so hurriedly packed my posh frock and sparkly bandana and checked in at the hotel with my six friends! I had a couple of glasses of...

So, having dreaded being laid up in bed over Christmas, I am so glad to report that I had a great one and ate all my christmas dinner and even managed some Buck's Fizz and mojitos! Despite the disruption of flooding and bugs, all my children managed to travel to me and they wouldn't let me lift...

I have rested completely over the last couple of days and thankfully my blood count had gone up this morning when I had a blood test. I was so nervous about having a cannular put in, but the PICC line specialist that saw me on Monday, came and did it herself and although I found it stressful, it was...

Well so far day 4 and 5 have been my worse days on FEC! I don't have much energy or appetite still and the ongoing insomnia leaves me very tired, but its all manageable and I do what I can each day to keep some kind of normality in my life! I had a little road trip out to Sainsbury's on Sunday...

I'm feeling ok considering what's been pumped into me! I still feel nauseas in the night and on waking, but I'm fine once I start taking the anti sickness tablets in the day. The steroids make me feel restless, which is not a good combination when I feel so tired!!! My middle daughter came...

It's been a tiring and eventful few days since my last post. On Thursday, I had my PICC line fitted. As a real needle phobic, myself and my daughter were amazed at how calm I stayed throughout the whole procedure! I am convinced that the hypnotherapy session I had on Monday afternoon was the reason...

This was my first outpatient visit at the Velindre Cancer Hospital to have bloods taken and my oncology appointment. It felt surreal sat in the waiting area surrounded by cancer patients. I was there nearly two hours and passed the time thinking, reading a newspaper and even a bit wig spotting! I wanted...

As I'm a few months down the road on my cancer journey, I will fill in the gaps prior to today. I so wish that I had started this earlier as my friends suggested! I am 54 years young, with three grown up children. On Monday 3rd September 2012, I visited my GP, with concerns about a breast...

Hi Jo, I am glad you found my post helpful. My hair is still looking good and is about shoulder length now! I am planning on having it cut and coloured soon at Tony & Guy as they have staff trained in hair care for cancer patients. I know it will be mega expensive, but your hair can be totally...

Day 15 after first lot of FEC and I've noticed I'm losing my hair. I didn't expect it to start so soon. I thought I'd have another week until I started my second treatment. I'm prepared for it, but not emotionally. On the whole I've been ok, but it doesn't stop it upsetting...

Hi I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2009 and spent more or less 2010 having chemo and radio treatment. Whilst I was having my treatment I continued my studies to train as a psychologist. Even though it was a very difficult time for me and I am still suffering the affects of fatigue and...
