A private message is a communication between two people which nobody but those two people can read. Please note that admin have access to all communications on the site.
You can find all of the messages which people have sent to you and which you have sent to others from the Private Messages tab within Community home.
When you have a new private message you will see a notification at the top of your homepage.
Only people who you have accepted as friends on the site can send you private messages, and you can only send private messages to friends. You can change your settings so that nobody or everybody can send you private messages.
