If you can't see a group which accurately reflects your interests or needs, please contact us telling us about your group suggestion and we will take a decision on creating it.
You have an option to make your group public, private or private and unlisted.
Public: anyone can see and join your group. It will be listed in the groups list.
Private: anyone can see your group, but they will need to apply to join.
Private unlisted: nobody except people that you invite can see your group. It will not appear in search results. Admin can see all groups on the site, including private unlisted groups.

You will need to be friends with another member to exchange private messages on the site. Being friends also means that you will see their posts if you select 'activity for people and groups' on the logged-in homepage.
To send a friend request, click on a member's username to be taken to their profile. Then click the button that says 'add as friend'. The other member will need to accept your friend request before you become friends.
To respond to a friend request from another member, go to the logged-in homepage, and look on the right-hand side, under the heading 'my friends'. Click 'requests to review'. You will see a list of usernames with the option to accept or reject each one.
You don't need to accept all the friend requests you are sent. Before deciding whether to accept, you may want to view the member's profile and past activity.
If you're using a mobile or tablet, you can try the mobile version of the Community
The Community mobile site is a pilot site, where existing members can log in, browse groups, get involved in group conversations. We're working on developing this even more, but currently it doesn't have all the features of the desktop site. Find out more about the Macmillan Community going mobile in our blog post
If you need any help or have questions about the Community mobile site just e-mail the Community admin team.
