    Anyone know how long the stent will be effective for, the jaundice has subsided and wondered if this is a temporary measure.? My dad has pancreatic cancer with secondaries in his liver.

    Hi ,  I had one fitted in November but have had a lot of infections around stent so now they want to remove stent and put in a drain. I had an MRCP (MRI) last Tues  and waiting for results for decision to be made.  

    Not the best advert for stents im afraid.

    I have cancer in bile duct with secondaries in liver.

    Biliary stents can migrate (fall out - basically), or block with sludge. When and if this happens, it is often possible to clear it or fit another.
