  • Hi guys,

Aint been on in a while hope everyones doing well, thought i would give you guys an update before i ask some questions, i finished my last chemo on the 28th of june :) but a few days ago found another small lump in my neck :( but docs not too worried i have to go back in a week to see if its still there..... bla bla (you wouldnt think ive herd all this before lol) but fingers crossed everythings fine just trying not to think about it.

i was just wondering if its normal for my doctor not to see me for 3months, i saw him 1month before i finished chemo and i dont see him now until 12 of september? also did everyone else whose finished have a PET/CT scan once finished? because i havenet. also i wanted to know how long it will take for my hair to start growing back and stop falling out? my hair only finned but its still coming out?

    Thanks becky x

  • Hi Becky, My son was 2a and had PET and CT prior to chemo. he then had a PET after 4 chemos to determine if the AVBD was working. It was so he carried on for the further 8 treatments. he then had to have a repeat CT scan 4weeks after finishing chemo which showed total remission. he now has to go back in 3 months time. If the PET after 4 had still shown active cells they would have changed him to a more intense chemo. from what I gather the PET after 4 treatments and CT 4weeks after finishing chemo is the most standard practise. Are you at a cancer centre or a local hospital? Rose

  • Hi Becky,

Not been on here for a while also! Congrats on finishing your treatment and I hope that the lump turns out to be nothing. I have also finished my treatment and am due a CT and PET scan this week, it is not normal practise to do another PET scan (had one also after 2 cycles which was clear) but my hospital like to do one, which I guess is a good thing but not entirely necessary. I will then be seeing my consultant every 3 months also but Im sure you can always call if you have any concerns? My hair is starting to grow also, people say it can vary with the growth, I'm hoping mine comes back quickly! Have been meaning to check out Kelp extract as I was told by my nurse that this helps with growth, is worth a try hey!

    Good luck with everything, :)

    Take care,
    Liz xx
