  • hi everyone just need to get my mind in order : (  i finished my chemo and had 4 weeks of rads which ended in april this year, my hair is growing back and i am starting to feel more like normal (as normal as can be anyway ; )  but last night while taking a shower i felt another lump in my right breast this time : ( managed to get in my docs straight away and he said yep there's something there so booked for a scan on monday  so i want to ask is it possible for the cancer to return this quickly after treatment, i had a grade 3 cancer in my left breast, and  i am on tamoxifen. but my mind is running away with me at the minute and cannot think past the cancer has returned even though it could be something else. sorry if it sounds a bit muddled :)  love to all you lovely people xxxxx

  • Hi Louise - I'm not surprised you're worried - I'm no expert, but as you know, it could be any one of a number of things, a cyst, a benign tumour, a recurrence or a new cancer, so there's no point trying to pre-empt the findings.

If you're really concerned, try to get something from the dr, like diazepam, that will help you just get through the next few days.  As you know from the last time, it's the waiting that's the worst part....

  • Thankyou mistymoley  i think i will have to go back to the doctors and get something to calm the nerves : ) i no there is a chance it is something else but yes the waiting is the worst part :(  xx

  • Hi louise..... Im not surprised your worried but it is more likely to be a cyst or a benign fibroadenoma. Especially so soon after finishing treatment. Your rads were obviously treating your affected breast so presuming you finished chemo around february this year so its unlikely you would have grown a new tumour big enough to feel in such a short space of time... But obviously there is a very small chance it may have been there all along and just not shown up on mammo. The good thing is your getting it checked. A cancer in the other breast isnt normally a recurrence if you do get a cancer in the other breast it is usually a new primary.... I had a new primary 3 years after my original tumour and bith were very different. I know you will be worried and i was too but think maybe getting something from your gp could be helpful.... Fingers crossed its something benign but if it is another tumour you will get through it again. Xxx

    Love Lulu xx
