Pelvic radiotherapy
Hi,
I have recently been diagnosed with stage 2B endometrial cancer, I had a hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and have an appointment with an oncologist to discuss radiotherapy. I was given a leaflet about it and quite simply it has terrified me - the side effects sound horrific. I'm keen to do anything I can to lessen side effects/help myself. Does anyone have any tips or useful information?
Thanks. Linda

Re: Pelvic radiotherapy
hi Linda
I had a total hysterectomy 4 years ago for stage 2 endometrial cancer. 4 weeks post op I had 5 weeks of radiotherapy, followed by an overnight stay having internal radiotherapy. The last bit was the worst as you had to be on your own in a lead lined room, with no visitors. Cancerbacup have a good book about radiotherapy and what MIGHT happen. Also they have a late complication booklet. I am glad of all the treatment offered . I breezed through the external radiotherapy, managing to return to work half way through the 5 weeks. Take plenty of rest, keep your skin moisturised and if your bowels play you up the team will probably advise you to take immodium.
keep in touch, hope it goes well.
