Hey,
I am new to the site and have joined as I feel it is time I really started giving back to macmillan and raising awareness and funds again as they have been so supportive to my family and the people I care for the past few years.
I am a health care assistant and have been for the past two years and in my personal life I have witnessed my mother and grandmother go through numerous breast cancer operations and treatments the most recent of which was two weeks ago with my Nan.
Sadly I lost my great aunt earlier this year after a long battle with lung cancer and another great aunt the year before to breast cancer.
I am grateful to the macmillan nurses and team for all the support they have shown my entire family throughout all of this especially recently when my Nan was really struggling to come to terms with being "back in the nightmare" as she described it but thankfully she was given the all clear on Friday after her operation was successful and this time no further treatment is needed.
Macmillan really is a wonderful support to not just the patient but those around them and I cannot praise them enough.
Katy
Hi Katy,
Thank so much for your message, it sounds like it's been a really tough time for you, but I'm glad to hear that Macmillan was there for you and your family when you needed them.
If it's helpful, we have a section on the website called 5 ways you can help support Macmillan which explains about the various ways you can help Macmillan support more people affected by cancer.
Thank you,
Laura
