  • Hi I'd just like to say, that since being diagnosed with cancer, I am a lot worse off financially. I have received my macmillan grant which was absolutely great,  But my job working wtih guys with learning disabilities used to bring into the household just under £200 per week.  As the company I work for (a large company with not many fringe benefits) don't pay anything when you are sick, let alone long term sick at present I receive statutory sick pay of £85.00.  I have worked solid for 35 yrs with hardly a break.  Feel just a bit piddled off with it and this is something I feel very strongly about, because I expect I am not an isolated case.  As well as my husband having to addapt to my illness it puts more pressure on him to try to provide the missing £100 a week.  Not a happy bunny !!  winston xx

Cancer is a word ..........   not a sentence.
