When I was little my Father used to take me to piano recitals. At the time I took it all in my stride but now he's gone, I miss them and wish I'd thanked him more for introducing me to my stopcock. When I need to vent fury, and sometimes I really do, it's music that I use to drown out my thoughts.

Playing mostly classical pieces on the piano and harp, there's not much chance of really thrashing either instrument…

In the pit of despair that was last week, the temple of peace at the bottom of my garden seemed as remote as the Himalayas.

Then something odd happened last Sunday. I got up and something felt distinctly different but I couldn't put a finger on it. I had a shower and then it dawned on me; I felt well. After the exploding boob episode, you'd sort of hope that on the balance of probabilities my luck would even out wouldn't you? Only I don't believe in luck. If I did, I would be buying a four leaf clover, wearing a rabbit's foot (not so lucky for the rabbit) and finding a black cat to parade in front of me wherever I go.

Yesterday I had another boob draining session. Apart from the immediate relief that…

After what was probably the longest nights' sleep I've had in three months, I was feeling pretty chipper this morning. The sun was out, Basil the cat was basking on the wood chips and the birds were tweeting in the holly tree. I decided it was time to open the shed for business.

Opening the door I'd forgotten how much material was sitting there. Huge piles of it looking at me, wanting to be made into something…
