Saturday 1st December

1 minute read time.
It's been a tiring and eventful few days since my last post. On Thursday, I had my PICC line fitted. As a real needle phobic, myself and my daughter were amazed at how calm I stayed throughout the whole procedure! I am convinced that the hypnotherapy session I had on Monday afternoon was the reason for this. Once you've had the local anesthetic injection into the arm, you don't really feel anything. Mine went into position straight away. I had mine inserted in the inside upper arm. I was given a leaflet to order a plastic sleeve to protect the area in the bath and shower. I ordered it on the way home in the car and it arrived the next day. Apologies for the block text in my posts - I do type them with paragraphs, but technical support have advised me that the site is not iPad friendly at the moment, but they are working on it. My first chemo was yesterday, eek! A bit like my outpatient visit, it did feel very surreal sat in the ward for seven other chemo patients wired up to machines. My daughter said it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. The staff are lovely and upbeat which helps. I was given anti sickness drugs to take before treatment started. For me personally, having a PICC line fitted was the right decision. I didn't feel a thing as the nurse fed saline and my FEC drugs into me. I felt a bit spaced out during the 'C' drug syringe, but that is common apparently. My appointment was at 2pm and I finished at 4:35pm. I was exhausted and drowsy last night and drank a juice my daughter made me and just had some marmite on toast. I was in bed by 9pm last night and woke up feeling nauseas during the night. I have 12 anti sickness tablets to take during the day and so far they are working!! I'm chomping ginger biscuits too, which are good for nausea and are rather tasty. I don't plan to move far from my bed or sofa today!!

Keep, going it is so hard when you feel very sick. I had a lt of sickness and just had to listion to my body and rest. Each day you feel a little better. A pick line is not nice to have but I found it to be the best idear. It save so many needles. Keep strong x

Thanks Mary. Day 4 and 5 have been my worse days so far. Today, apart from having the runs (nice), I feel a bit stronger. My appetite is zero, but hopefully that will help decrease the size of my muffin top!! Taking Zopliclone to help me sleep last night was a good choice. xx
