1 week into Recovery

Less than one minute read time.

So I had my last of 30 sessions of radiotherapy a week ago last Friday. The past week has been a bit of a struggle, the worse thing being the sudden onset of the Phlegm monster. I can't believe how many toilet rolls I've got through. I took people's advice and found that the bi-carb mouth rinse seems to be best at getting the stuff out.

For a few days eating ( well drinking ensure) was tough because I didn't want to be swallowing the Phlegm, but it has definitely thinned out now, and although it still gathers when I sleep, I'm getting longer spells in between it is waking me up.

I'm running a sweepstake with my friends to see who can pick the date that I will be able to eat chocolate buttons again. I think those that picked early dates may be a tad disappointed!

Hello DLC ... you are actually doing remarkably well after thirty RT fractions, I fell at number eighteen and ended up being hospitalised ! I must be weird because I do quite like the Ensure Plus strawberry / vanilla drinks even now ( I buy them occasionally for those ' off ' days when eating is difficult )

Yes, that horrid thick mucus will disappear before too long ... try an extra pillow to prop you up a bit when sleeping as it may help. Oh, and even I can give a chocolate button a nasty suck !   : )

Keep your chin up, sweetheart ... you are getting there x
