Radiotherapy - into week 4

1 minute read time.

Well last week I couldnt see myself making it into week 4 but I am more mentally prepared for it. I still have a mouth full of sores and ulcers, and the saliva has definately thickened up and become cloudy. I have a complicated drug taking routine which sees me alternating between paracetamol and diflofenac every 3.2 hours, with a 2 to 3 ml of oramorph every 4 hours. It does allow me to get some sleep but I still wake up every couple of hours and need to clear my mouth out. That's where the Caphopsol is quite handy- seems to do a good job if lubricating the mouth.

Over the weekend the skin on my cheek and neck has started tingling, like mild sun burn. I've been trying the range of ensures, mixing them up to make exciting cocktails and adding milk. Today I froze a couple to make a kind of sorbet mix.

I bought some baby food today as I fancied something different and although I can just about swallow it, it all tastes very salty. The porridge one wasn't too bad, but I think I could have just made porridge.

I can't really talk now so am using a note pad a lot, or just texting/ what's aping my husband when he's sat next to me on the sofa! Let's see what this weeks roller coaster brings.

Hello DLC ... so into another week and the end of the tunnel coming into sight, just keep crossing those days off and the RT will soon be over ! Yes, you may find that foods may begin to taste different or like cardboard ( my description ! ) but you have to look at it as medicine to help your body recover.

I used a blender for quite a while ... my husband did once suggest baby food and he was lucky to escape without bodily harm : )  But whatever works for you, then go for it. Good luck for this week x
