What are the options ?

1 minute read time.

My Father has been diagnosed with tumours in both lungs and the Dr has stated it is " none curative " please excuse any spelling .

He has sqamous cell carcinoma and it is at an early stage.

His present illness was discovered as he finished treatment for skin cancer two years ago. This was discovered through a routine X ray and then the CT scan and Biopsy.

We are meeting with the Oncologist and have been informed the option is Aggressive Chemotherapy to keep " it " at bay.

There are so many different opinions and treatments world wide it makes us think  is the NHS route the System we are in the only option ?

I am reading posts here relating to to the USA and specialists in Germany ?

Our concern is once we have " put all our eggs in one basket " and based on his health responding to the treatment he may/ may not be in a good condition to travel.

If anyone has any ideas it would be gratefully appreciated.

He is 66 and has no symptoms’ at all apart from what has been discovered.

Kind regards ,

Dan

    Hi Dan,

Welcome to the site nobody wants to join. The only advice I can Give you is my own experience. 12yrs ago I had an operation for aggressive Laryngeal Cancer and was given 3 yrs at the most to live. the treatment I received with the NHS was second to none, and Im still here. The other thing I would be careful about is travel insurance. So what ever you decide. May I wish you well and Good Luck.

Take care and be safe Sarsfield.

my best friend has just been told that she has this kind of lung cancer ,   after unsuccessful  radiotherapy ,

yesterday she was told she could have chemo  ,but  has decided to go for kill or cure ,  if she can pass breathing test

and a heart test , she might be able to have surgery

or a probe that heats and kills the tumour  but  nothing sure yet   will know more next week !  I will get back too you ,
