On Thursday Mum received some quite amazing news following the conclusion of her chemo, radiotherapy and final x-rays and CT scans:
"There are no cancer cells in your body Mrs Rogers"
Of course it was swiftly followed up by the stats for the recurrence of this sort of cancer, and that she still has to have radiotherapy to her brain as a precaution. But she is still in shock.
I am well aware, acutely so recently with the awful loss of Kate Jock and darling LindaT, that this lung cancer, particularly small cell, has a habit of hiding for a bit then coming back again, but if life could just get "back to normal" for a year or so, and give her some time to enjoy her retirement, then I will be delighted.
Of course I went out and got drunk on Thursday night and kept ringing her and we cried at each other down the phone !!!
She is due for scans every 2 months now - I will keep you posted xx You never know, she could be one of the 5% who make 5 years - thers always hope.
