chemo warning sign

Less than one minute read time.
Just wanted your opinion. My dad is home after his first chemo session and is PARANOID he catches any germs etc. So, I made (what I thought was quite amusing, tongue in cheek) a sign for his bedroom door. I haven't given it to him yet and I don't know how he will feel about it, I will show my mum it first.....but how would any of you feel about this? I copied and pasted a picture of a dog snarling, like a wee guard dog, then this: Just had Chemo, So Please Understand, I can’t give you a hug, Or Shake your hand, If You’ve got germs, Then please stay away! I’d be happy to see you ......ANOTHER DAY!!! Then I copied and pasted a sunny flower smiley face. Would that upset any of you? Dont want to appear insensative! Thanks, Netty x

I would find it absolutely hysterical!!

Does he have a good sense of humour?  Is he a bit sensitive about his condition?

The best thing anyone can do for me is to make me laugh and if anyone did this for me I'd love them forever!

That said, I start chemo on Wednesday and my neighbour/friend wants to put a foot and mouth style bath outside of my door!!!!!

You sound like a lovely daughter, your dad is lucky!

  • Hi Netty

Think you sign will be fine. All my friends and family were really good about staying away if they so much as sneezed.

Your Dad needs to get out and about if he can but avoid crowds. I hated that thermometer!!!!!!!! but luckily I did not have any major problems with chemo.

    All the best.

    Hi angi and Sue!

Thank you for your response!   I am glad you think its a good idea, I plan to give it to my dad tonight so I will let you know how he reacts!  ....he will probably cry!   He does that a lot!  btw did chemo make you extra emotional?   My dad has always been emotional but since chemo even funny things make him cry!

Yes, he does have a sense of humour, hope it works!

    Take care,

    Love Netty xx

  • I think we all suffer from chemo brain. It is hard to concentrate sometimes and forget things. There again it might be my age.

Only cried when the oncologist first told me the possible side effects of the chemo. I wanted to run away and smoke and drink myself to death.

Then I thought I would keep on going till it killed me.

Found the chemo was very unpleasant at times but to be honest it was not as bad as I imagined.

Let us know your Dads reaction. Bet he is really touched and may cry but that is not a bad thing.

    Love

I don't start chemo until Wednesday so not sure about the side effect.  Absolutely terrified by the HUGE list of side effects but feel a load better reading the posts on this site.

    Thanks everyone for your input.
