Leaky legs lol!

1 minute read time.
Hi there lovely people. Although my skin graft site is healing well (according to all the District Nurses but it still looks like a lump of meat to me!) I am having a big problem with fluid leaking from the skin around the site. I can't go longer than two days before the dressings are soaking wet and I'm leaving heel prints on the floor! Now my leg is begining to swell during the day and feels very tight. I have talked to the nurses about it and the problem is they are worried that the actual graft is going to dry out before they can sort out the leaking fluid around it! They also reckon it's having the sentinal lymphnode and 2 others removed that is causing this so just imagine what a state I would be in if they had ALL been removed. I have now developed a 'warm' area of skin next to the site and the Dr has put me on antibiotics yesterday to nip any infection in the bud.. In a few days it will be exactly a month since the operation and I seem to be going backwards in my recovery which is a bit of a bummer. On a brighter note my parents came down Monday and went home this morning. Bless them they have done my shopping, picked up the prescription etc. Felt like I was a little girl again lol. I am now back to being on my own as all my family and friends have had to go back to their work etc after taking such good care of me over the last month. I have been very lucky to have so much love and support at this time. Hope everyone is having a good day so far Take care pheonix xxx

As long as that is all that's "flowing my way"lol!!!  Oh dear, I'm so sorry to read about your on-going problems. Let's hope on Monday things can start to improve.

I think I will have to mention my concerns about my leg swelling as I don't think after 4 weeks it's post-operative swelling. I have signed the petition for Lymphoedema recognition on one of the other forums here.

    You take care

Steps that is lol.  Unfortunately I had to have an emergency appt with my GP Fri pm as he was concerned I might be developing a DVT! Luckily after doing some tests on my leg he decided it wasn't DVT but lymphoedema.  He was truly shocked when he took the dressing off and saw how large the site was.  I almost felt he felt sorry for me (not normally good at the 'bedside manner' this GP). He now thinks one side of the site is infected and the antibiotics he sent me on Weds are not working so he's given it until today but it's still the same so I have a new lot coming.

The District Nurse that came out yesterday made me a 'boot' from a large absorbant dressing and then padded me up and then bandaged and then stockinged me (very sexy lol) but must admit it was a lot more comfortable and not leaking on the floor at the moment. Dr is waiting to see if my leg goes down once antibiotics kick in.  If not then he said he will refer me to a specialist.

Oh well, back to the couch with my leg in the air lol.

Dear lindaj I hope all went well with you today

    Take care
