Less of a worry now......

3 minute read time.

As you all have read over the last few months following my diagnosis of Bladder Cancer, I have been worried that i had something sinister going on in my rectum, as all the symptoms were there similar as with the bladder problems, so ones mind conjours up all sorts of configorations as to what must be going on inside especially already armed in the knowledge that cancer is present in my body, also having 2 long standing family friends in the process of recovering from colon/rectum/bowl cancer brings it all closer to home.

I spent yesterday at the hospital mostly waiting around to be seen, thinking i was due to have a colonoscopy examination and worrying about that, and what if this and that as you do, eventually when i was seen they were able to see the problem with a simple rectoscope examination, the problem being simply  fissures and tears in the rectum/anus. Ouch!

This has happened as the result of a sailing accident some years ago where i fell off the trappease on a HobbieCat and smashed my Cocxix on the boat, after a few years of treatment that was not working i had an operation to reset the Cocxix, this was carried out through the rectum/anus and it is that old op site that has failed torn and split. So my mind has been put at ease now and i no longer have to worry that it was cancer, i dont think i could have coped with two seperate/different cancers going on, both needing different treatment.

I am booked in for an operation on the 21/12/10 to have it repaired and made so i can at least go to the toilet with ease, which will be a definate improvement as since the original operation in 1992 it has been a stuggle and never exactly pain free, so i am very happy to know it will at last be put right.

I am recovered almost from the 'TURBT' by now, and would like to return to work and see if i can manage it however i might not be able to do the full 12 hour shift with the 2 hour drive to and from work, but i will give it a go probably start friday this week, I do still have a few concerns about some persistant marks where they did the operation, a persistant itchy scalp, irregular random sharp pains in abdomen/eurethra and quite severe back pain that comes and goes, also finger and toe nails that have since started to grow quite a bit faster than before! with the exception of the abdominal pains and skin marks i dont see how the other things are related, however i have noticed it to be so, if anyone has also experianced strange happenings following treatment i would be interested to hear about them.

My first 3 monthly follow up treatment for the bladder cancer is to take place on the 13/01/11 something to look forward to after the Christmas break! and to start the new year off in the manner it will become over the next 5 years! still have trouble with that, i never usually keep the same car for more than a year!

Thanks for listening once again to my ramblings, i wish you all well, its been nice talking to you, especially all the people in the chat room, come on guys help me out here, this site has a chat room, it seems to have to same few people all huddled in the same room 90% women, it would be nice to once in a while talk bloke stuff with guys in a similar position as myself, and have the odd joke and a laugh, as we have done shopping/Asda/ etc. etc. for the umtheenth time, so come on get in the chat room.......please!

    Hi Pauli,

Never mind the Chat room get your own health problems solved first. Their timing of the Op was well

thought out on the 21 /12/2010. Some Christmas.!!!

    Take care mate Sarsfield.

  • I am not bothered about Christmas, I am sick of Christmas already, its now been spoilt by months of pre Christmas hype which started way back in September in some shops, So it doesnt bother me one bit that i will be croked over that period, all i want now is to be put right, having suffered with this for so many years due to my own embarresment and stupidity really, oh and a doctor that would not refere me to the hospital in the past. My new doctor is very good.

Thanks Sarsfield for all your comments, i hope you too are ok and have a nice Christmas.

    all the best.     Pauli..........

Well Pauli ! - Bah Humbug - you miserable begger - months of Xmas hype !! - bet  you not have not even got my prezzie yet!

Serious Though - Result sound so great that not only have they sorted the root of your posterior problem out - but they also have a straight forward solution as well.

I can only imagine the relief you have that it was not cancer related or anything real serious, just a pity its taken so long to resolve - I know you must still have discomfort - but sounds a bit like a great  early Xmas present to you.

Despite what you said - hope you will have a fantastic worry free Xmas Mate

    love and hugs

    John xx

  • Hello Johno,

Thanks for the kind words, i dont really mean what i said about Christmas, but having lived in a muslim enviroment where Christmas is banned, and celebrating it in public could get you flogged or jailed, i find all the nonsense assosiated with it in this country especcially now during this reccession rather crass, and hypocritical when there is so much crap going on around the world and so many people with nothing, here we are wasting money on things we dont need and can live without.

I will of course have Christmas dinner, and have a few drinks and no doubt suffer a magnificent headache, and as you have pointed out i have just been handed my present, which hopfully will make my life a little better from now on.

I hope you too have a wonderful christmas time and enjoy all the usual fair, and have some fun opening presents, i will raise a glass to all the people on this site on the day, be sure of that.

    All the best mate xx

    Pauli.......
