scattering ashes again: different ashes

Less than one minute read time.

Talk about, it never rains but it pours... On Tuesday this coming week, my dear mama will be scattering my father's ashes.
Next weekend, we may be scattering the ashes of father-in-law.
That's all.

I seem to remember reading in the book, The Shipping News, of a relative tipping ashes into an outside toilet.

Funny the things that pop into one's mind.

    Big Hugs to you.

We scattered my partners ashes near to the restaurant we always went to, on the sea edge. Afterwards found out that his son hadn't emptied the urn completely of his ashes, me being me wanted to go back and complete the job, Partners family had already gone back to where they were staying so me, my sister and brother went down and finished of scattering the ashes. By this time it was midnight and the only light was a restaurant that was still open but nowhere near where we had scattered the ashes earlier in the evening. so trying to avoid the rock pools and making sure we got the correct spot. we finished off scattering the ashes, My brother fell into one of the rock pools and my sister lost her flip flop and falling over, as well as us all nearly falling over on the slippery rocks as they were all wet, we did have a laugh and felt that my partner done this on purpose so we could have our own little ceremony by ourselves.

make sure you stand downwind when scattering the ashes as when we scattered my partners ashes his son threw them up in the air and i got covered in them, at first i screamed then said no don't worry as it will be last time i will get a cuddle of him.

Just thought i would add, not sure if you can get them here but i got a locket with some of my partners ashes in which i wear all the time, maybe your mum and your husband would like something like that so they always know that person is close to them. There were other things as well where you can keep some ashes in as a keepsake and scatter the rest.

Thanks, crazygirl! I love the image of you all staggering around in the dark in the rock pools! That's a good memory to have, to balance out a little of the sadness, I hope.
Good tip about standing downwind too: I don't think I would have thought of that, not having a very scientific or practical brain.

It's lovely to have you back on this site again: I hope you're finding it helpful.

lots of love xx xx xx
