What do you think of this blog?

1 minute read time.

Hi readers!

We’d like to ask for your very expert opinions on this blog, whether you already read it or not. There’ll be a lot more content on it in 2014, and we want to make sure it’s as useful as possible for you, and stuff you actually want to see. So here’s your chance to tell us what you really think! Is this blog helpful and interesting? Or do you think we should make some changes? We know we can improve this blog, and that’s what we’re going to do. We’ve created a short survey of just 8 questions, and we’d really value your answers to them.

To complete the survey, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NKP62MN

To see the blog, visit http://community.macmillan.org.uk/blogs/b/new_information_available/default.aspx

Just to point out, this is a survey about Macmillan’s cancer information blog (not the Community News Blog).

The blog is intended to promote Macmillan’s cancer information to current and new audiences, to make sure that everyone is receiving the best quality information to help them through their cancer experience.

Remember, you can also add any comments at the bottom of this blog post or any other post on the Community (you need to be logged in).

And to assure you we’re not just sitting here asking you to come up all with all the bright ideas, here are a few of our own plans for the blog in 2014:

  • write more blogs that relate to news/current stories/cancer in the media
  • use Google Analytics to learn more about the blog’s usage and tailor it to readers
  • include more images/videos/audio in the blog
  • have more guest blogs

We’d like to say a big thank you to all our readers in 2013! We hope to hear from you via our survey, and we promise to carefully consider every piece of feedback we receive.

Take the survey!

  • Not really applicable to this blog but would very much like to see an "Alert Moderator" button on ALL blog posts as spammers have got crafty and now realise they can spam as much as they like on blogs they create and other peoples blogs because not many members realise these spam blogs can be reported by emailing the community admin.

Also the alert moderator text font on posts could be made "bold" or use the darker green Macmillan colour to make it stand out more.

More information and guidance aimed at "New to the Site" members. A separate easy to find blog/info page aimed at them maybe ? As quite a few new members have problems navigating the site.

    Hi George and Jackie,

All posts do now have an alert moderator button at the bottom, or at least they should. If you see one that doesn't, can you send us the link to community@macmillan.org.uk?

The problem of spam on blogs is also related to our spam filters not working as well on blogs as they do in the forums - this is something our technical team are aware of, and hopefully they can get it fixed.

Good idea on a blog for new members, though - that's something we can definitely do on the Community News Blog.

  • Hi Priscilla, Maybe I didn't phrase that well enough :-) Sure the first post on a blog post has an alert button but none of the replies seem to have an alert - or is it me and my browser not picking these up ?

Seems it's when spammers reply to a blog we cannot flag it up so easily.

    Cheers, G n' J

Hello G 'n J ... I have exactly the same as yourself with my browser, the original blog post has an ' alert moderator ' but not any following comments / replies. So it isn't as quick and easy to flag any spammers ...

Ah, yes, sorry, I see what you mean now. Yes, I will add a report button for blog comments to our list of developments we'd like to make.
