Consultant.

Less than one minute read time.

After yesterdays appointment I am still upset and annoyed.

Two months ago we were told I had stage 1 Hodgkins Lymphoma, but we now find it's stage 2. This means what was going to be two to three rounds of Chemo has changed to three to four. I know compared to others its not much but its an extra month or two.

They have known this for ages just not passed the information onto us, what a bloody joke......

My December Chemo is booked for 10th & 24th, I will then have a CT and PET scan early January. Then see the consultant on the 7th January and find out what happens next. My 1st Jan Chemo should also be on the 7th so your guess is as good as mine!

That must be really frustrating.  Doctors sometimes seem to struggle with the idea that patients have lives to organise, and therefore like to have a decent idea of how long treatments may take if all goes smoothly.

It might be helpful to ask to be copied in on consultant letters to your GP.  You can also see whether there is a nurse specialist who could help keep you up-to-date, or ask about seeing a different consultant.

If you feel able, I'd encourage you to submit a complaint about this or at least mention to your consultant that this has upset you.  Hopefully this may prompt them to improve things for subsequent patients.
