My hair is falling out

Less than one minute read time.

Well this is a very strange feeling. The last couple of weeks have thrown my life around, i'm even in a wheelchair now. i'm 19 years old, not particularly unfit, very sociable and now full of chemotherapy. I can cope with the hair loss it's just everyone else. People don't look at you if you're in a wheelchair because they can't bear the thought of what will look back at them. I'M STILL NORMAL i just have a load of crappyness inside me. I'm getting a wig fitted on tuesday.

Hmm that's about it really im not very good at blogs and stuff.

    Hey Fairy,

I don't know what it's like to be in a wheelchair, very difficult i imagine at ur age but i do know how it feels to lose ur hair. I'm 26 an lost mine around march time but i finished chemo in July an it's growing back now. People used to stare at me if a went out in a headscarf an i hate that half sympathetic 'oh shes got cancer' look they give u, the kids that stare r the worst! Katie is right, stick ur tongue out at them, i tried it, it works!

I get ppl looking at me now cos i go out without my wig an people just think i'm a strange woman with a skinhead but I don't care what they think. I only care about the people i love an as long as it doesn't upset them i don't mind! Hope ur wig fitting goes ok, their brilliant cos ppl have no idea its a wig!

    Love and hugs

    Emma

    Hi Fairy

I'm a bit older than you (not going to admit how much) but am just getting used to being in a wheelchair and being treated as though I do not exist i.e. I pay for an item and the cashiers talk to the person I am with!

However, I have found a new hobby, you know that old phrase ' does my bum look big in this?' - well, in a wheelchair, you can tell straightaway that it does so you can sit there having a giggle and ignore all those people who look at you with sympathy or worse still. try to pretend you are not there at all!

Keep smiling Fairy and enjoy the wig fitting.

    Love

I am Fairy18s mum, it is lovely to find these messages, unfortunately Faye died on 24/3/10 very suddenly, she was only 20, her hair had just started to grow back, she managed without the wheelchair not long after her first chemo.  I love the message about peoples bums,, not sure if she got to see it but she would have loved it.
