Hit By The Chemo Train

2 minute read time.

Well, the chemo train eventually hit me on Tuesday. I've been suffering with pain and a little bleeding due to hemorrhoids, although I don't have constipation. I think it's more inflammation as Ibuprofen seems to help a little. I didn't take any for a couple of days as back pain was more bearable. But I took one today, and will again later.

I also got overheated on Tuesday. We went shopping and I had to take my hat off and wander around Tesco Extra and my town centre without it on. That's when the bad side effects really kicked in. But I know they will clear up and I'll be back to normal in a few days. It is only day 8 after all. Two more of the injections left, one Friday and one Saturday, and I SHOULD be on an upward spiral ready for the next AND LAST session. I'll say that again as it sounds so good. THE LAST SESSION!!!

Still suffering!!

Bleugh!!!

I know I spelt that properly because Charles Shultz used it a lot in his 'Peanuts' cartoons. I use the word, because although I am feeling generally well, I've had a lot of soreness and discomfort 'down below'!! It's day 12 of Fec 4 (chemo 5) and I was hoping this would have cleared up before now. It obviously has different ideas. There's only one week before my oncology appointment pre chemo 6, final one. So I hope they don't delay it. My daughter was supposed to take me last time, but as she was full of cold, she had to cancel. So hopefully she will manage it next time, as I REALLY need to get to Maggies. I don't have time when relying on Derbyshire Patient Transport. The last time my daughter took me (after chemo 3) we both bought tickets for the Macmillan raffle. All Boots No 7 beauty products. My hospital has a brilliant information centre, which I love looking in. It's just across the corridor from the Oncology Department, so very convenient. We weren't expecting to win, but just wanted to support Macmillan. But she won!! Fantastic.

I know it sounds daft, but I've been using three digital thermometers throughout my treatment. None of them very reliable, so today I managed to get an 'in ear' model. Better late than never I suppose. To test it out, I used it in my right ear whilst using one of my others orally. The difference was .6 of a degree. Sometimes with the others, I would take my temperature at three different times, all within a few minutes of each other, and the difference between them all was quite large. 34.5, 35.6, 36.2 all in those few minutes. Now I know I'm hot stuff. (Who am I kiddin? Fat, bald, burping all the time, can't sit still because of my sore bottom, completely gaga because of chemo!!) But surely my temperature should stay pretty stable for at least 5 minutes!!!
