Our visit to the Locum Oncologist April

2 minute read time.

·         Hosp wanted to change Dens appointment on 24hrs notice, because New onc does not do Tuesdays, but have seen 3 times before on a Tuesday.

 ·         Told on Monday did not matter chemo already ordered for Wednesday. This is prior to blood test and weight check as chemo is weight related. This has never been pre-ordered before. Plus New Onc admitted on previous visits, that she did not know how to order it.

 ·         Re above, was told Chemo would prob change this time anyway, as opinion last time was that it wasn’t working.

 ·         Saw a stand in Onc, who just happened to be there on Tuesday when we popped in for the blood test.

 ·         Onc only had last letter form New onc, not the file.

 ·         Decided to stop chemo. Fair enough, I half expected that.

 ·         Den has 2 fungating wounds, refused to get wound nurse involved. (One of which broke out over the week-end, and Den can see this one.)

 ·         Quoted NICE 2009 to him, said I would have to discuss with New Onc, not his problem.

 ·         Asked about a scan as suggested by our New Onc at last visit, I would have to see New Onc.

 ·         Asked about increasing pain relief Stand In Onc said, not sure about that, had to ring nurse.

 ·         Told to make appointment to see New Onc, guess what? next Tuesday afternoon.

 ·         Receptionist at Hosp being Offish.

 ·         Receptionist at Hosp, upsetting our GPs receptionist who rang that eve on our behalf.

 ·         Before all this, being pushed on to New Onc by old Onc, without even telling us, had just assumed on first visit Old Onc not available, on 3rd visit the Penny dropped.

 ·         Visiting stand-in GP to be told, could not prescribe Anti-Dep for Den, as referred by Practice Nurse, as would interact with anti-sickness meds. Sorry I know different.

o        Finally, I am changing dressings at least 3 times a day and doing her injections, just getting a little too much.

All I am trying to get, is the treatment that Den deserves.

I know what the Endgame is, ‘There isn’t one’.
