My dads cancer may be back

Less than one minute read time.

My dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer four years ago. It was totally by accident it was discovered. It was also discovered he only had one functioning kidney, the other was like a shrivelled walnut. Of course the cancer was in his good kidney. He decided to have cryopathy, which was a relatively new treatment. The tumour was frozen and died. It went successfully but we were told that it could come back.

I've found out today that he has been passing blood in his urine. He has been to the doctors and the GP is concerned, He is writing to his consultant for an appointment asap.

I have two younger sisters and an older brother. One of my sisters gave birth to a little boy on Saturday and I am so scared my dad won't see him grow up.I know I may be worrying needlessly but hey you all know what its like.

I was browsing on the laptop and came across this site. The stories i've read have inspired me so I thought I would join. Thanks for letting me put some feelings into words.

Hello loolabelle, sorry to learn about your dad.  He must be sooooo chuffed to have become a grandad to a little boy - that in itself will give him much joy.  Remember, your dad got through his cancer last time so he WILL get through it this time.  Its the only way to think.  We can't change life happening to us - we just have to walk with it.  I wish you all strength and don't just sit and wait for those appointments - if you don't hear within 2 weeks, get back to them.  Ann x

Uour dad must be thrilled with his little grandson! I know my parents were utterly delighted when my wee niece was born. I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for an infection or other such easily treatable nasty. Stay strong, it might not be the cancer back again and if it is, well he was tough enough to beat it once, he can do it again. All the best, Vikki xxx
