My diary My weekend at Chertsey

3 minute read time.

We traveled Friday to the MHF Rally at Chertsey caravan and camping club and the site was full.

It was a very busy place which is great news for the site and we were able to use the very large Social room for us to all get together and have a few drinks and treats and a chat.

The showers were so clean and well decorated and even the Elsen point had everyone marveling how clean and tidy it was.

This lovely, riverside site is to the south west of London. A train ride away from the capital, it has a rural feel and is visited by foxes, squirrels which we had running over the M/Home all weekend, and many river birds even a swan was swimming by very late at night and you could hardly see her in the moonlight. Canoes can launch from the site, which regularly hosts events by the Canoe-Camping Club.

Weybridge station is near the site. Trains to the centre of London take around 30 minutes.

Three theme parks are nearby: Thorpe Park is in Chertsey, while both Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland are only a short drive away so the children were off visiting to have loads of fun.

Windsor Castle, an official residence of the Queen, is the world’s oldest and largest occupied castle.

Kew, Wisley and Saville Gardens are internationally famous.

Garden lovers can also visit the Hampton Court.

Brooklands Museum covers the motoring and aviation heritage of its site. It now includes Mercedes-Benz World.

You can Walk along the towpath to Staines using part of the Thames Path National Trail but we only did a little way on the Sunday as we had been to Chertsey High Street on Saturday.

On Saturday evening we went to the Kingfisher Pub and had a great meal altogether which was another successful gathering.

Sunday was a lovely day of relaxation and in the evening we were in a friends M/Home as everyone had gone home.

We got out the wine and had a good old chat and put the world to rights.

In the night when we were fast asleep the rain poured down and the leaves fell off and odd little branches so there were lots of noise but I love snuggling under the duvet and listen to the rain its really cosy.

On the way home the spray on the road was very bad and on the M26  2 lorries had crashed on the M25 bound and an Ambulance was just leaving the scene as we passed.

The police had all the cars turned round and they were traveling on the hard shoulder back to the Sevenoaks turn off which looked really strange.

The second lorry driver must have been in a very bad way as his cab was embedded into the lorry in front of him. So sad for their families

Im now home and ready to have my Scan on Wednesday at Margate hospital so all the fingers are crossed again until the 26th appointment with my Oncologist.

My Answer from My Local MP on my request to look at Proffessor Vogl's Chemoebization in Germany and to allow it in the UK

House of Commons

This is the response to my  letter to Julian Brazier MP

Dear Mrs. Nye.

Following my letter of 12th October  I am now able to enclose the reply that I have received from the Health Minister with regard to research into the treatment of mesothelioma.

As you can see, both the Medical Research Council and the National Institute for Health Research allocate funds for research projects(which could include chemoembolization) on the basis of the scientific value of the proposals. Professor Vogl could therfore in theory, apply for funding to carry out research in the UK as in Germany.

The Minister also confirms that the Government is undertaking a review of current research into mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases and is working closely with the British Lung Foundadtion on building capacity in this area.

I hope that this is helpful and wish you luck with your own treatment.

Julian Brazier

I have emailed Professor Vogl and he is going to apply for the Financing of a UK Research program –lets hope he is Successful

Hi Mavis, Hope all went well today with your scan. Fingers and everything else crossed for good results on the 26th.   Thank you for keeping us up-to-date on your correspondence regarding Prof. Vogl`s treatment being made available in the UK.

    Love and best wishes, Heather.

  • The Scan has been done so the wait is on now and i will go on the 26th for the result.

Thanks Heather The prof is filling up the forms that need to be filled so it would be great if he gets the finance here in the UK.

The money is going to the British Lung Foundation so lets hope for the future.
