October week holidays

1 minute read time.

Well,I'm so looking forward to having the kids off school for the week (and a day) am i weird or what,i love the not having to rush about in the mornings,i love not having to iron school uniform and i love not having to battle with Logan to do homework every night! Monday was a quiet day, made it round the park with the dogs and a trip to asda where i got two tops for a fiver each,i love a bargin! Got a phone call at night from my dad saying that he is going to his house in Lochgoilhead on Wed to do some work for the winter and did i want him to take Katie and Logan with him? Eh hell yes!! Logan was up for it,he loves fishing, cycling, walking with my dads dogs, swimming, eating ect ect but when i called katie to tell her she shouted at me down the phone then hung up,then came storming home saying she was refusing to go and that she would rather stay with her dad,ha bloody ha,she never stays over at her dads,so i called her bluff and phoned him telling him she wouldnt go and that i wanted a break and that he could have her from the Wed to Sun.....that went down well....NOT,he goes out most nights of the week after work and would have to give that up.I think going to her dads is a far worse option than Lochgoilhead,he has no internet,no dvd,and no dishwasher!!! Im going to make her go to one or the other though, not giving the chance of a break for a few days because of a spoilt 14 year old! Am i cruel??

Leigh......cruel never, spot on I say or maybe thats because I am worst mum in the world (accordingly to my 11yo daughter cos I make her go to bed at 9pm).

Oh what I wouldn't do for a break without the kids or karate for just Tony and I.  The perfect villa I found for next years holiday is now booked and only takes two week bookings at the peak time - we can't afford that :(  I am thinking of paying me old pal Lorrainey in France a visit instead ;) - actually she's quite a new pal from What Now but she'll love me I am sure.

I'm with you Leigh...I love the hols, not having to do the school run, which at the mo is 3 times a day for me. Roll on January!! I love having the kids home and for once I have got a lot planned this time.  I agree with Jools and Debs, no you are not cruel far from it. Every parent deserves a break from things now and again and you more so with everything else going on. Hope you have a fab couple of days to yourself, enjoy.

    Love Chrissi xx

My kids [Lol] are aged 39 and 33. They are both out in the world 'doing their thing'. My daughter gave us a grandson, he's 10 now and lovely. He comes to stay some weekends, got his own room here as well. As for young teenagers being a worry theres still some way to go yet. You NEVER stop worrying about them, they will always be your kids. My son raced motorcycles in his 20's, Now I love motorcycle racing but I would rather someone elses son was doing 150mph than mine.  I was pleased when he retired from that. Now we both go and watch - relaxed.  We always told our kids 'anything is possible, the world's your oyster' and we never held them back. Now they are both well educated, my son has an Engineering degree, and they are both capable of dealing with most of lifes challenges. Bringing up your kids is the best time of your life. I consider myself lucky that my ill health did'nt start until my kids were grown up and already flown the nest.

Enjoy the holidays, relax the best you can,

    Big Hugs, Bill xxx

i agree too!!  i love having my boys home, i love seeing their excitement the night before no more school for a while.  No making of pack lunches, no getting up early and best of all having the best company, and when i go back to work they say " glad to be back for a rest" i say no i quite like my children!
