i am such a proud mum ,

2 minute read time.

Well lets start with the result .... sadly after playing very well portsmouth lost but thats not the important thing,,, ill start with the night before ,

I heard my son  singing songs from the lion king at the top of his voice in the bath ,it was so funny ,bless him  , he was so excited he couldnt sleep , up at 7 am and breakfast had ready to go, i took some pics but dont know how to put them on here , but they are on my facebook if anyone wants to see them (jenni butler. west sussex ) i think , im not hard to find,he looked so cute in full pompey kit ,

so off he went with grandad , gave me a lovely hug before he got on the train, and i heard nothing more till 6 pm when i got txt saying on way home !!

as for the game i will share with you what i felt ,and is funny as i had an message from a mac friend who felt the same as me that ju was in the pompey goal , i mean 5 shots hitting the wood work ,(sorry if you dont like footy ) but in the past ju was sent off for handling a ball in the goal !! and i wore ju,s pompey shirt and i must say for a liverpool fan i felt very strangely comfortable . anyway i was gutted they lost , but apart from missing ju ,even more, i was so worried the result may have ruined my little boys day , so i was feeling bit low, got cold and sore throat too, at 8 pm. the travellers returned ,imagine my pleasure when i opened the front door to two huge pompey flags waving and my son with the biggest grin on his face , "i had an amazing day " ,well i almost cried, yes he was upset theyd lost but what an attitude for an 11 year old , i am so proud you always hope to bring your children up well , but it reminded me of what a super job me and ju have done ,anyway half an hour later and long conversation ,he admitted sadly how much hed missed his dad as it wasnt the same with out him, what could i say ,but trying not to cry ,reminded him his dad was with him, but also how much he loved him and would be so so proud of him as i am and what an amazing person he is , after that it was cuddles and bed and as soon as his head hit the pillow he was fast asleep,

and this morning ,he got up at 10, still smiling, a bacon roll ,egg on toast and a yogurt , and is now annoying his sister :), i think he has had an amazing experiance ,and even though a little sad, something has lifted in him ,he seems happier , and im left feeling so proud, i may be missing ju desperatly as we should be able to share this together , but as parents we are very lucky xx

Oh Jenni, I still had tears reading this blog but so glad your little lad had a fab time.  I don't think it was about winning or losing that day, it was about your little boy having a good time and it certainly sounds like he has!

Jenni, you have every right to be proud of your son.  He showed a wonderfully mature attitude towards disappointment and it sounds like he has grown in himself because of it.  It sounds like he had a fabulous day out with his Grandad and I'm so glad he enjoyed the occasion.

I have a niece (my wife's sister's daughter) who lives in Emsworth and who's boys support Portsmouth.  And even though I was born and brought up in SW London, my parents originated from Liverpool, so that has always been "my team" (not that I'm a dedicated follower, I just take an interest).

You should also be proud of your own work, you and Julian, in bringing up your children.  It's hard work sometimes, but extremely rewarding and it's moments like this that let you know you've done it right.  It really deserves more recognition.
