Back Home to real life and new opportunities

1 minute read time.
Well its now June 2nd and Tenerife seems like an age away already!!!! I miss the Bacardi Mohitos!! The holiday was just what we needed and chemo started again last Thursday and so far so good. No chest pains, no problems and feeling fab at the moment. I cant live without omeprazole though so stomach acid has a big effect on my well being. I am concentrating on my fundraising for Race for Life, so far its £1600 for cancer research and £700 for my local hospital and still two weeks to go. Its great to be able to give something back and focus on something positive. I have been let down by one member of my family but hey ho, lifes too short to worry about it. The generousity from strangers and people wishing me well has more than made up for it. I had my first Reiki session last week at our local hospice and I am going again tomorrow. It seems odd going to a hospice as I dont really look like I need help but I shall see how it goes. Everyone is so nice and I am hoping the Reiki can help me relax a bit more. I went back to work today and felt like a fish out of water!!! It was good though. I got ready this morning and felt comfortable without my wig or bandana on so i went without it! It did cause a few looks but I carry it quite well and with a bit of a tan I think it suits me. The girls at work loved it and made me feel comfy which I thought was ace. I am not too ugly!! (I shall just keep telling myself that) life doesnt feel too bad at the moment and I think the sunshine has a lot to do with it. I had a real low last week and seem to have pulled through that okay so I'm ready to face what comes next. Chemo for a further six weeks and then a further scan - then its the next step. One day at a time........if only I had a pound...... Feel more optimistic about planning another holiday now, the world is our oyster.

  • Hi Joanne

You’re doing great and your photos look fab.  I like how you have a series of goals to achieve such as the Race for Life, the Reiki sessions and thinking ahead to another holiday, because as you say, the world is your oyster.  I just hope you don’t spend too much time at work and so are able to enjoy your leisure time more.  Well done for achieving so much in the fundraising, that in itself is a fantastic achievement.  So, where would you like to travel to next?  Chase the sun, because it seems to have disappeared from here again.  I hope this session of chemo doesn’t cause you any trouble, and to help take your mind off that just keep on planning.

    Love Kitty xx
