jokes - is this the right place?

Less than one minute read time.
I'm sure I'll get 'flamed' for this, but here goes... Although some of the jokes are slightly amusing, I was under the impression that this was a 'Cancer Community' , where sufferers and carers can find information and support from others during an extremely distressing and worrying time? For jokes, there are 69 million references on google...

Of course it's the place for jokes and humour datamood.  In fact this is one of the aspects of this site I find enjoyable.  For pity's sake, when many of us here are bowed down with illnesses ourselves or deeply caring for others who are,  many feel the need to have a good belly-laugh - and thanks to those who provide them.

Don't mean to be offensive but surely you have heard the expression "laughter is the best medicine"??

And a final thought  -  who is forcing you to read them??

Just my thoughts - as I said no offence, just find you a killjoy and in many of our lives there is little joy.

Logging on this morning, there are 6 new jokes big and bold on the home page.  If you were desperately unhappy at being recently diagnosed with cancer and had come here looking for advice, information, support, a miracle, whatever, I'm sure the last thing you would want to see is jokes!

Wasn't a group set up for people to post jokes on?  Can we try using it?

I think we are sending the wrong message by having jokes so much in evidence on the home page - I am sure that new people must be put off by this when they are distressed and looking for help.  I have nothing against the jokes as such but I do think it would be preferable if they were posted in a special group or tab rather than being the first thing that anyone sees on entering the site.

But I can understand why a new visitor might not understand our sick and often black humour. How about getting James to put up a Jokes tab at the top so that we can find them easily when we want too?

You know that I'm one of the biggest offenders but I was thinking exactly the same thing.  Your right its getting beyond a joke (pardon the pun) There is a group but I keep forgetting to tick the group box and take it out of public when I post. It might also cut down on the repeats, like watching Dave!!!Maybe a Humour, Jokes tab at the top would be a better idea.

I will restrain until a decision is made.
