Welfare Reform webchat – Thursday 25 April

Sarah Presto and Helen Burke, Macmillan benefits advisers

Update 25/04/13: Adrian Ward will be replacing Helen Burke for today's chat.

Confused about changes to the benefits system? Benefits advisers Sarah Presto and Helen Burke will be answering your questions about Welfare Reform live in our chatroom on Thursday 25 April, 12-1pm.

Working out what benefits you’re entitled to can be hard enough at the best of times. But the Welfare Reform Act 2012 has made things even more confusing, with lots of changes to the benefits system coming in from this month onwards.

One of the main changes that will affect people living with cancer is that Personal Independence Payment is replacing Disability Living Allowance for new claimants, beginning with certain areas of the country. But there are more changes to the benefits system that have either come in already, or will be brought in over the next few years.

If you’re wondering how you’ll be affected, join us in the chatroom between 12 and 1pm on Thursday 25 April. Or, if you can’t make the chat, post your question in the comments below, and we’ll ask it for you. All the questions and answers from the chat will be published here on the blog.

You can also speak to a benefits adviser like Sarah or Helen on the free Macmillan Support Line (0808 808 0000, Monday-Friday, 9am-8pm).
