The festive season is over, everyone is back in the office, and resolutions are being stuck too, but you can do one more good thing to start the New Year and remind employers not to forget their legal responsibilities towards people diagnosed with cancer.
Each year 109,000 people of working age are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. In fact, there are more than 700,000 people of working age living with a cancer diagnosis. Often, employees diagnosed with cancer will continue to work after, or even through their treatment. But less than 40% of people with cancer realise that they are protected by law against workplace discrimination. We want to continue to make people aware of our Working through Cancer campaign which aims to raise awareness of the Equality Act 2010.
